Introduction

Awarding loyalty points based on customer tags allows you to create more personalized and targeted rewards within your loyalty program. By using tags, you can automatically grant points to specific customer groups, recognize special segments, or reward customers for particular actions or attributes. This article explains how loyalty points based on tags work and how to set them up to enhance customer engagement and loyalty.

What is a customer tag?

Customer tags are labels or identifiers assigned to individual customers based on specific criteria or behavior. These tags provide businesses with a way to segment and categorize their customer base, allowing for targeted marketing efforts and personalized communication.


Here are the steps below to give loyalty points based on tags:




Step 2:
 Click on the activity that says 'On Customer Tag'



Step 3: Configure the settings as per your requirements. Remember, the points on the tag will be allotted only if the customer profile on Shopify contains that tag.

Campaign name: The name of the loyalty activity as it appears on the storefront and in the loyalty wallet. Example: On customer tag, VIP Tag Reward, Special Segment Reward.
Description: A short description visible to customers explaining why they received points. Example: You will get reward points on earning different tags.
Enter tag: The exact customer tag that will trigger the reward. The tag must match exactly with the tag applied to the customer in Shopify or via integrations.
Tag points: The number of loyalty points awarded when the specified tag is applied to the customer.
Add new tag: Allows you to add multiple tags within the same activity. Each tag can have its own point value.
Reward text: The message shown to customers when points are awarded.
  • {points} - to display the earned points.

Description (Reward description): Additional details shown in the customer’s loyalty wallet or points history explaining the reward.
Customer page URL: The page where customers are redirected when they click on this activity from the loyalty widget. Example: /pages/customer


Step 4: To assign more than one tag, click on Add New Tag.


Step 5: When done, click save/update. Also, ensure that this feature is turned on in the loyalty menu.



Notes
This feature can also be used to give points for tags from a third-party application

Important notes: 

  1. Points are awarded only when the specified customer tag is applied to the customer profile.
  2. Points are credited only once per tag per customer, unless the tag is removed and reapplied.
  3. The tag name must exactly match the tag added in Shopify or via any third-party integration (case-sensitive).
  4. This activity supports tags added by AiTrillion modules or third-party apps that apply customer tags.
  5. Changes made to tag configurations apply to future tag applications only.
  6. Disabling the activity will stop point allocation for new tag events, but will not affect previously awarded points.
