Send a discount to customers for referring a friend

Introduction

Reward your loyal customers for spreading the word! With AiTrillion’s “Refer a Friend” feature, you can automatically send discount codes to customers who successfully refer their friends to your store. Instead of only earning loyalty points, referrers can now receive exclusive discount codes, free products, or special offers—giving you more flexibility to thank them for their advocacy and boost word-of-mouth sales.

Note: This will work only in the case of the Refer a friend activity with a discount code.

Here are the steps to send a discount code to referring customers:

Idea
Note: The pre-made template is already available for referring a friend. To get a Pre-made template, Go to Email marketing >> Templates >> Click on Pre-made template to edit the pre-created template or Edit the Saved template.

You can choose to clone the email to Email marketing and use the email in Workflow. To know more, Click here.




Step 2: Drag and drop the trigger Loyalty point earned.
 


Step 3: Select Refer a friend



Step 4: Choose the condition as per your needs and add the trigger Send email.


Step 5: Select the message as per your needs.

Now, the discount code will be sent to the referring customers

Important notes

  1. Ensure the Refer a Friend activity is enabled and active in the Loyalty Rewards program before setting up the workflow.
  2. The email will be triggered only after the referral condition is successfully completed (as defined in your workflow).
  3. You can use either a pre-made email template or a custom email template. Make sure the selected template includes the correct discount variables.
  4. Discount codes sent via email are unique and can be redeemed only once, unless configured otherwise in Shopify.
  5. If multiple workflows are created for the same trigger, emails may be sent multiple times—avoid duplicate workflows.
  6. Make sure the Send Email action is connected correctly after the referral trigger; otherwise, the email will not be delivered.
