How to Configure Friend Discount Codes in the Referral Program?

Introduction

The Referral Program allows you to reward new customers by offering them a discount code when they are referred by an existing customer. By configuring friend discount codes, you can encourage referrals while providing an incentive for new shoppers to make their first purchase. This article explains how to configure friend discount codes in the referral program.


Here is the chronological order of how friends receive discount codes when the store is referred by one friend to another using the loyalty referral program :-

A) Customer 1 refers your store to Customer




B) Customer 2 will receive a link through email or whichever channel was selected by Customer

C) Customer 2 will click on the link and visit the store.




D) A pop-up will be displayed with the discount code on the screen of Customer 2.



E) Customer 1 will receive loyalty points when Customer 2 makes a purchase from the store.

Important Notes

  1. Friend discount codes are generated only when a customer visits the store using a valid referral link.
  2. The discount code is shown to the referred customer via a pop-up or referral landing experience, based on your configuration.
  3. Each friend discount code is unique and can be used only under the conditions defined in the referral settings.
  4. The minimum purchase amount, discount value, and expiry of the code depend on the configuration set in the referral program.
  5. Loyalty points for the referring customer are awarded only after the referred customer completes a qualifying purchase.4
  6. Points are credited according to the approval period defined in the referral activity.
  7. Changes made to referral settings apply to new referrals only and do not affect previously generated discount codes.
