Block customers in AiTrillion by domain or email using a list

Introduction

Blocking customers by email address or domain helps you prevent unwanted or invalid contacts from receiving emails and engaging with your marketing automation. With AiTrillion, you can easily upload and manage a list of blocked emails or domains to ensure that communications are sent only to relevant and authorized recipients. This improves email deliverability, reduces spam complaints, and gives you greater control over your customer outreach.

Warning
Note: If you block or suppress customers, they will be marked as inactive, they won't be marked as active until you delete the suppressed domain, and you will not be charged for them if pricing is based on Active customers.

Block customers from a specific domain

Step: Scroll down to the bottom to find the Domain Suppression section. Add the domain you want to block from AiTrillion and click 'Save'.

Warning
Note: Check the below points:
1.) If you add a specific domain, both previously signed-up customers and new customers will be marked as inactive.
2.) Inactive customers will not be able to engage with marketing activities.

Once the domain status is completed, existing customers will be marked as inactive, and new sign-ups will also be marked as inactive.

Block customers from an email or import the list to block the customers

Warning

Before importing contacts, you must confirm that the list complies with AiTrillion’s permission-based marketing policy.

  • I agree to the Terms of Service: You must check this box to proceed. It confirms that all contacts have explicitly given consent to receive emails from you.

  • Where Did You Obtain These Contacts From? Use this field to briefly mention the source of the contacts, such as:

    • Website signup forms

    • Checkout opt-ins

    • Newsletter subscriptions

    • Offline events (with consent)

This helps ensure transparency and compliance.

  • Source Description (Minimum 20 characters required): Provide a detailed explanation of how and when the contacts were collected.Example:
  • Info
“Customers subscribed through our website newsletter signup form.”

This information is used for compliance verification.

  • Is This List Containing Double Opt-In Customers? Enable this option if customers confirmed their subscription via a verification email. Double opt-in lists typically result in better deliverability and engagement.

  • Import CSV File: Upload the CSV file containing your contact list.
Browse file – Select your CSV file for upload.

File size limit – Maximum allowed file size is 50MB.

First row of the file is the header row – This is required. The CSV must include column names (recommended).

  • What Do You Want to Do With These Contacts? Choose how AiTrillion should process the imported contacts:

Update existing contacts, add new contacts: Updates existing records and adds any new contacts found in the file.

Add new contacts: Imports only new contacts and ignores existing ones.

Update existing contacts: Updates only contacts already present in your account.

Unsubscribe both new and existing contacts: Marks all contacts in the file as unsubscribed.

Unsubscribe only existing contacts: Unsubscribes only contacts that already exist in your account.

Step 3: Map the customers according to the fields -
Warning
Note: Ensure that the 'Customer Status' field is present in the CSV and contains the value 'inactive' .

Step 4: Add the customers to the list according to your requirement, or remove from the list, or create a new list

Step 5: Click on Finish.

Now, the customer will be marked as inactive. You can also check it on the Customer timeline. To know what the customer timeline is - Click here.

Important Notes:

  1. Blocking customers by domain or email immediately prevents them from receiving marketing communications and engaging with workflows or any module of AiTrillion.
  2. Once a customer or domain is blocked, the contact will be marked as inactive in AiTrillion.
  3. Blocking a domain or email does not delete customer data, it only restricts communication and automation.
  4. Make sure to verify the domain or email list carefully before blocking, as this action may affect legitimate customers.
  5. When importing a list to block customers, ensure the CSV file includes the correct and valid email addresses.
  6. You can unblock customers at any time by removing them from the blocked list or changing their status.
