Manually Assign or Change a VIP Tier for Bulk Customers

Introduction

In certain situations, you may need to assign or update VIP tiers for multiple customers at once, rather than relying on automatic tier rules. This is useful for running special promotions, migrating customers, rewarding loyal groups, or correcting tier assignments in bulk.

AiTrillion allows you to manually assign or change VIP tiers for bulk customers quickly and efficiently. This article explains when to use bulk VIP tier updates and how to apply them correctly.

Note: Before assigning the VIP tier, the VIP tier must be created and enabled.

Here are the steps to manually assign or change a VIP tier for Bulk Customers:




Step 2: Click on the Download sample CSV button.



Step 3: Add the details in the column as per your requirement:

Note: Either the customer ID or the email address is required.
1. email: The customer’s email address is used to identify the customer if store_customer_id is not provided. Either email or store_customer_id is required.
2. store_customer_id: The unique customer ID from your store (Shopify customer ID). Can be used instead of email. 

3. tier_name: The VIP tier to assign to the customer. Must exactly match an existing VIP tier name in your store.

4. is_lifetime_assignment: Determines whether the VIP tier is assigned permanently.

  • Accepted values:

    • 1 → Lifetime VIP tier

    • 0 → Time-based VIP tier

5. assignment_duration_months: Required only if is_lifetime_assignment is set to 0. It defines how long (in months) the VIP tier remains active. Leave this column empty if the assignment is lifetime.

IdeaNote: The header/1st row of the sheet must be in the same sequence formate which is provided in the demo CSV.



Step 4: Click the Upload CSV button and select the file you saved after editing the CSV.




Step 5: Now, you will get the details of the files which you have uploaded, including:
File Name: Name of the file which you uploaded.
Status: It will show the status of the file that is uploaded:
Completed - There is no error in the file.
Pending - File is in pending state. It is in process to upload the file.
New members: It will display a list of customers who are not available in AiTrillion. You need to import those customers into AiTrillion first, and then re-import the CSV. To learn how to import the customers, Click here.
Error: It will show the status of the file if there is any error in the file while uploading the data.
  1. Created: Displays when CSV processing finished.
  2. Upload Date: Displays when the CSV file was uploaded.

NotesNote: If a customer is already assigned to a VIP tier and is included in the list, the customer’s VIP tier will be updated.



Now, the VIP tier will be assigned to the customers.


Check whether the VIP tier has been assigned after uploading the CSV:

Here are the steps to check whether the VIP tier has been assigned or not after uploading the CSV:



Step 2: Click on the customer's Name or Email whose name was included in CSV.



Step 3: Check whether the tier name and assigned tier have been updated correctly.



Important Notes:

  1. Ensure the VIP tier is already created and enabled before assigning it to customers.
  2. The Email address must exactly match the email associated with the customer account in your store.
  3. Use the same file format and column headers as provided in the sample CSV.
  4. The VIP tier name must match exactly with the name created in your store settings.
  5. Avoid leaving required fields blank, as this may cause upload errors.
  6. Always review the CSV data before uploading to prevent incorrect tier assignments.
  7. Verify VIP tier assignment by checking the customer profile after upload.
