Manually Assign or Change a VIP Tier for a Single Customer

Introduction

In some cases, you may want to manually assign or update a VIP tier for a specific customer instead of relying on automatic tier rules. This can be useful for rewarding loyal customers, handling special cases, or correcting tier assignments.

AiTrillion allows you to easily manually assign or change a VIP tier for an individual customer directly from the admin dashboard. This article walks you through when and how to update a customer’s VIP tier manually.


Assign Vip Tier for an individual customer

Here are the steps to Assign VIP tier manually for an individual customer:

Step 2: Search for and click on the email or name of the individual customer to whom you want to assign the tier.



Step 3: Click on Assign VIP Tier



Step 4: Select a Tier - A pop-up window will appear with a dropdown menu listing the available VIP tiers (e.g., Silver, Gold, Platinum). Select the appropriate tier from the list.


Step 5: Set the Tier Duration. Choose whether the tier should be assigned for a limited duration (e.g., 12 months) or forever.



Step 6:  Save the Changes. Click the Change Tier button to apply the new VIP status to the customer. The customer will now be immediately moved into the selected VIP tier.

Here are the steps to Assign VIP tier manually -:



Step 2: Search for and click on the email or name of the customer to whom you want to assign the tier.


Step 3: Click on Change VIP Tier
NotesNote:
1) If the customer is already enrolled in a tier and you change it, the existing details will be overwritten, and the new tier assignment will take effect based on your manual selection.  

2) Once the duration of the manually assigned tier expires, the customer will be reassigned to a tier based on the settings configured in your VIP program (e.g., amount spent, points spent, or tag-based criteria).



Step 4: Select a New Tier & Duration. Choose the new tier from the dropdown menu. Select the duration (forever or a specified number of months).

Step 5: Click Change Tier
to update the member’s VIP tier.


The customer will now be immediately moved into the selected VIP tier.



Important notes

  1. Manually assigning a VIP tier will override automatic tier rules and milestones until the tier is changed again.
  2. When a VIP tier is changed manually, the individual customer immediately receives the benefits associated with the new tier.
  3. Downgrading a customer’s tier will remove access to higher-tier benefits instantly.
  4. Manual tier changes do not adjust historical points or past rewards already earned.
  5. Shopify customer tags associated with VIP tiers will be updated automatically when the tier is changed.
