Starting February 2024, email providers like Gmail and Yahoo have enforced stricter authentication requirements. All bulk senders are now required to implement DKIM and DMARC authentication to ensure reliable email delivery.
DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance) is an email authentication standard that works on top of DKIM. It allows domain owners to define how receiving mail servers should handle emails that fail authentication checks and provides visibility through reporting.
DMARC helps:
Prevent email spoofing and phishing
Improve email deliverability
Protect your brand reputation
Monitor unauthorized email usage of your domain
None: Signifies that emails should be treated normally even if DMARC fails. This is akin to not having a DMARC record, yet it allows leveraging DMARC's reporting features.
Quarantine: Specifies that emails failing the DMARC check should be directed to the spam folder upon delivery.
Reject: Indicates that emails failing the DMARC check should be bounced and not delivered to the recipient.
To make these entries in the DNS record, navigate to your domain provider's website and access the DNS records section.
Visit the domain provider's website. You can refer to the screenshot below for details:
