Filter product reviews by rating, status, and media type within the app
Introduction
Filtering product reviews effectively is essential for understanding customer sentiment and improving the overall shopping experience. By allowing users to filter reviews based on rating, status, and media type, your app can deliver more meaningful insights and help store owners make informed decisions. In this article, we explore how implementing advanced review filters can enhance usability, streamline moderation, and provide customers with the exact information they need.
Step 2: Click on the filters and you will be able to see various filters. You can add the filters according to your needs. The available filters are:
Date: Select a time range to filter reviews:
- Custom Date: Choose a specific date range
- Today / Yesterday
- Past 7 / 30 / 60 days
- Ratings: Click Select rating to filter reviews based on star ratings.
Search by Product: Search reviews by entering the product handle or name. Requires at least 3 characters to start searching. Helps you find reviews for a specific product quickly.
Stars by ratings – Shows all reviews (default). 1 Star to 5 Stars – Displays reviews that match the selected rating.
Status: Filter reviews based on their current status:
- All: Shows all reviews
- Published: Reviews visible on the storefront
- Pending: Reviews awaiting approval
- Unpublished: Reviews hidden from the storefront
Media Type: Filter reviews based on attached media:
- All: Includes all reviews
- Image: Reviews with images
- Video: Reviews with videos
Date: Select the date from which you want to apply the filter and click on Apply.
Step 3: Click on the Apply button to apply the filter.
Similarly, you can filter the Site reviews.
Important Notes

Filters help you quickly locate specific reviews, making moderation and analysis more efficient.

You can combine multiple filters (rating, date, status, and media type) for more precise results.

The All option in each filter will display complete data without any restrictions.

Date filters only apply after clicking the Apply button.

Filtering does not modify or delete reviews—it only changes how they are displayed.

Ensure the correct review tab (Product reviews or Site reviews) is selected before applying filters.

Media filters (Image/Video) will only show reviews that include the selected media type.

Clearing filters will reset the view back to the default list of reviews.
