Add an Unsubscribe Link to Email Templates | Ensure Compliance with AiTrillion

Add an unsubscribe link to your email template

Adding an unsubscribe link to your emails is essential for maintaining trust, improving deliverability, and staying compliant with email marketing regulations. It gives recipients a clear and easy way to opt out of future communications, ensuring your emails reach an engaged audience. A visible unsubscribe option not only helps you meet legal requirements like CAN-SPAM and GDPR but also reduces spam complaints and protects your sender reputation. By allowing users to manage their preferences, you create a more transparent and user-friendly email experience.

Thus, it allows:

  • Not to generate dissatisfaction with the recipient who has chosen not to receive e-mail marketing anymore

  • Not to damage the sending reputation

Idea

Here is an example of an unsubscribe link:

Every marketing email must include a visible and functional unsubscribe link. This is essential because it:

  • Respects recipients' preferences and reduces annoyance

  • Lowers spam complaints and protects your email deliverability

  • Automatically captures opt-out feedback in your system

  • Builds trust through transparency

  • Helps maintain compliance with anti-spam laws (e.g., CAN-SPAM, GDPR)

Unsubscribe Methods You Can Use (Beyond the System Default)

While AiTrillion includes a default unsubscribe link, you also have two customizable options to control how unsubscribes appear and function:

You can also add an unsubscribe link easily when using the email composer to create your email templates.

Step 1: Go to Email marketing >> Templates >> Create the template or click on the Saved tab or edit the template.

Step 2:  Customize the content as per your need, select the text where you want to add the unsubscribe link, and click on the Link icon.

Step 3: Remove all the content and paste the shortcode - {%unsubscribe_link%}

Important notes:

  1. Always use the default unsubscribe shortcode provided by AiTrillion to ensure unsubscribe requests are processed correctly.
  2. Do not remove or hide the unsubscribe link, as this may lead to spam complaints and negatively impact your sender reputation.
  3. Make sure the unsubscribe link is clearly visible and easy to find, preferably in the email footer.
  4. Avoid modifying the unsubscribe shortcode text or structure, as this may break the unsubscribe functionality.
  5. Test your email before sending to confirm the unsubscribe link redirects to the correct unsubscribe page.
  6. Unsubscribed users will automatically be excluded from future email campaigns, helping you maintain a clean and engaged email list.
  7. If you customize the unsubscribe page language or layout, ensure the message remains clear and user-friendly.
  8. Using a proper unsubscribe link reduces spam reports and improves overall email deliverability.
