Send Dynamic Discount Code in the Email/Workflow

Introduction

Use the AiTrillion email to automatically generate a discount code for every email that goes out with the Dynamic Discount addon.

Here are the steps to generate a dynamic discount code to use in the email:

Step 2. Click on Create in the top right corner.



Step 3: Now, you will get two options:
1.) Bulk discount generator - This will generate the coupon after saving the settings, but it will expire on the set date after the code is generated.
2.) Real-time discount generation - This will create the discount code in real time, so the code will be generated when the emails sent.


Step 4: Fill in the details according to your requirements and click on Add coupon

1. Coupon name (Required)

  • Enter a descriptive name for your coupon (e.g., "Welcome10").

  • Only letters and numbers are allowed.

  • Maximum: 32 characters.

2. Prefix (Optional)

  • Only letters and numbers are allowed

  • A custom prefix can be added to each generated coupon code (e.g., "WELCOME").

  • The system will add 6 random alphanumeric characters after your prefix to create unique codes.If left blank, the full code will be 8 random characters.

    Note: The characters I, 0, O, and 1 are excluded to avoid confusion.

3. Discount Type (Required)

Select the type of discount:

  • Fixed Amount: e.g., $10 off.

  • Percentage off

  • Free shipping

    Enter the value of the discount in the “Details” field. 

  • Optional: Check  - "This discount requires a minimum purchase" if you want to enforce a minimum spend threshold.

4. Applies To

Choose what the coupon applies to:

Entire order – Applies the discount to the full order total.

Select products – The discount will work for specific products.

Select collections – The discount will work for specific collections.

5. Activation

Determine when the coupon becomes active:

  1. Generated coupon codes will become active when they are sent out – Code becomes active in real-time, typically during workflow send.
  2. This discount has a defined start date – Codes become active only after a specified date.

6. Usage Limits

Control how many times the discount can be used:
  1. Limit the number of times this discount can be used in total – Set a max usage count for all customers combined.
    Example: If you enter 1, only one customer can use the coupon.
  2. Limit to one use per customer – Each customer can only use this code once. Each customer can only use this code once.

7. Expiration

Choose when the coupon expires:
  1. Generated coupon codes will never expire – Codes stay valid indefinitely.
  2. This discount has a defined end date – Codes become invalid after a selected date.

8. Select Time Zone

  1. Choose the time zone that applies to your activation and expiration dates.
  2. Both start and end time zones can be independently selected.


Step 5: If you are using a Bulk discount code generator - Go back to the Discounts code screen. Click here to be visit the discount code page. Click on the three dots and then on Add Codes to add the total number of codes.

Step 6: Add the number and click on the Submit button.


Notes It will take time (2-3 minutes) to generate the discount codes. You can check the number by refreshing the page.


Warning
Note:
1.) When using a bulk discount code: If the available discount codes run out, the workflow/email will stop sending messages to customers. For example, if you're sending an email campaign to 5,000 customers but only have 500 discount codes, emails will be sent to only 500 customers.
2.)When using a real-time discount code: In the case of a bulk discount, the code will be generated dynamically, so there's no need to add it manually.


Now you can use the discount code in the email template to send it as a campaign or workflow.

Use the Discount code in Workflow/Email


Step 1: Create the Email template/Workflow template for email.
Step 2. Edit the email >> Click on Blocks >> Drag and drop the  Coupon Code block in the email template.


Step 3. In the new tab, Go back to Email marketing >> Discount codes >> Copy the coupon name.

InfoNote: Make sure to generate a large number of discount codes to prevent any disruption in the workflow. If the number of available codes runs out, the workflow will stop sending emails to customers.
 



Step 4. Paste the coupon name between the inverted commas and click on Save & exit.



Step 5. Now you can send this email to the customers using the campaign.

Now, the discount code will be sent to the customers
