Create a Membership Plan or Product

Introduction

The process of creating a plan or membership product, often referred to as "Membership," entails establishing structured offerings that provide exclusive benefits or access to customers in exchange for recurring payments. These plans can vary in duration, pricing, and features, catering to diverse customer needs and preferences.

By setting up Membership products, businesses can foster customer loyalty, drive recurring revenue, and offer personalized experiences tailored to different membership tiers.

This article provides step-by-step guidance on how to create and manage Membership products effectively within the AiTrillion platform, empowering businesses to maximize the value of their customer relationships.

Here are the steps to create a membership plan:

Step 1: Go to Membership v2 >> Membership plan

Step 2: Click on the Create New Plan button

Additional required step: Choose the Membership renewal mode. To know more about renewal mode - Click here.

Step 3: Fill in the required details and click on Save Plan.
1.) Create membership plan
Membership Plan Name (Required): The internal name for the membership plan (e.g., “Monthly Pro Plan” or “Annual Gold Membership”). This name is used throughout your AiTrillion dashboard for identification.

Customer Tag (Required): This tag is automatically applied to customers who purchase the plan. It can be used for segmentation, automation, and targeted communication (e.g., sending exclusive offers to “GoldMembers”).

2.) Membership Product: Membership Product ID (Required). Enter the unique Shopify Product ID associated with the membership product. This product should already be created in your Shopify store. To find out how to check membership product ID - click here.

Click “Create new product” if you haven’t created the membership product yet. This will redirect you to Shopify to create one.

3.) Membership Plan Renewal Cycle (Required): This defines how often the membership will renew. For example, entering “1” with a duration type of “Month” sets the plan to renew every 1 month.

Duration Type (Required): Select the time unit for the renewal frequency. Options include:
Days
Weeks
Months
Years

Minimum Membership Renewal (Required)
This defines the minimum number of times a member must renew their plan. For example, a value of “3” means the customer is committed to at least 3 billing cycles.

Maximum Membership Renewal (Required)
This determines how many times the plan can be renewed. A value of “999” typically indicates unlimited renewals unless otherwise defined.

Offer Membership Trial? (Optional)
Check this box to offer a free trial period before the first payment. Helpful for letting users test the plan before committing.

Important Notes:

  • Ensure you select the correct membership plan type (one-time or renewal) based on your business model before saving the plan.
  • The Membership Plan Name is visible to customers, so use a clear and customer-friendly name.
  • The Customer Tag is applied automatically after purchase and is used to identify members—do not modify or remove it manually.
  • The Membership Product Number (Product ID) must be unique for each plan to avoid conflicts.
  • Set the membership duration and renewal cycle carefully, as these directly impact billing and access validity.
  • If you enable trial offers, ensure the trial duration and discount settings are configured correctly to avoid unintended pricing issues.
  • The trial period must be less than the membership renewal frequency to function properly.
  • Always verify that the membership product is successfully created in Shopify; if not, use the Create New Product option.
  • Any discounts applied during trials will only be valid for the configured trial period.
  • After setup, test the full purchase flow to ensure the membership plan works as expected on your store.
