Add automatic discount code to store

Introduction

Introducing direct discount codes to your store can be a powerful tool for attracting customers and boosting sales. In this article, we'll walk you through the process of seamlessly integrating direct discount codes into your store, empowering you to drive engagement, increase conversions, and build customer loyalty

Note: 

1. Ensure that the membership plan is already set up on your store.
   
2. The automatic discount code will only be applied when customers purchase the membership plan.

There are two ways to add an automatic discount code:

A) From Aitrillion

B) From Shopify

A) From AiTrillion

Here are the steps to create a discount code using AiTrillion:

Step 1: Go to Membership V2 >> Membership plan

Step 2: Click on Membership Perks for the membership plan where you want to apply the automatic discount code upon membership purchase.

Step 3: Click on Add membership perk and fill the required details. The details are:

Select perk: Choose the type of membership benefit you want to offer to customers. In this example, the selected perk is a percentage discount, or Amount discount, or free shipping.

Discount code: Enter the discount code that customers can use during checkout to receive the membership discount.

Percentage off or amount off: Specify the percentage discount customers will receive.

Create discount (In case you have not created the discount on Shopify): Click this button to create the discount code directly from the Membership module using the entered details.

Add discount id (If you have already created the discount code on Shopify): Enter the Shopify Discount ID if the discount code has already been created in Shopify Admin. This helps connect the Shopify discount with the membership perk.

Apply discount automatically? Enable this option if you want the discount to be automatically applied when eligible customers purchase products without manually entering the discount code.

Save perk: Click this button to save the membership perk settings and apply the discount configuration to the membership plan.

Delete perk: Use this option to remove the configured membership perk from the membership plan.

B) From Shopify

Here are the steps to add a direct discount code to the store:

Step 1: Assign a customer tag to the Membership plan. Create a membership plan. If you haven't done so already and require assistance, you can check the article provided here.

During the plan creation process, you'll find the option to include a customer tag. This allows you to select a personalized tag that the system will subsequently apply to customers automatically upon their membership purchase.

Step 2: Create a Discount Code on Shopify: Create a discount code to be applied to the membership plan. To learn more about the creation of discount codes, you can refer to the article by Shopify here.

Step 3: Important Settings: When creating a discount code, there are a few things that need to be considered and taken care of. The first is to make sure that the discount code applies to all of your desired purchases. For this, we will be going with 'Both', as shown in the screenshot below.

Step 4: Make sure that this discount code is associated with the customer tag that you have defined. This will appear within the Customer Eligibility section once we choose the option for Specific Groups.

In our case, we are choosing the Gold plan

After adding the customer group information, you need to save the discount code.

After saving the discount code, you need to copy the discount ID that you have to put in the perk membership within the membership plan. You can also write any 'discount message' you want your members to see.

Step 5: Go to Membership V2 >> Membership perk >> Add membership perk and Add discount id.

🚨The discount ID must be the same as the Selected Perk and make sure to Save the perk

Now, the discount will be automatically applied to the customers after purchasing the membership

Important Notes

• Ensure that the membership plan is already created before configuring the automatic discount code.
• The automatic discount code will only work after the customer successfully purchases the membership plan.
• You can configure the automatic discount using either:
  • AiTrillion Membership module, or
  • Shopify Admin discount setup.
• If you are using a Shopify-created discount, make sure to enter the correct Discount ID in the membership perk settings.
• The Apply discount automatically option must be enabled to auto-apply the discount during checkout.
• Ensure the discount code is active and configured correctly in Shopify Admin before linking it to the membership plan.
• The customer must meet all discount conditions configured in Shopify for the automatic discount to apply successfully.
• Automatic discounts may not work properly if multiple conflicting discounts are active in the store.
• After configuring the settings, click the Save perk button to save the membership discount setup.
• Changes may take a few moments to reflect after the membership purchase is completed.
• The discount will only be available to customers associated with the membership plan.
