Send automated SMS using workflow

Introduction

Sending automated SMS using workflows allows you to instantly reach customers with timely and personalized messages based on their actions or behavior. Whether it's order updates, reminders, promotions, or alerts, SMS automation ensures your communication is fast, direct, and highly effective.

In this article, you’ll learn how to set up and send automated SMS messages through workflows, helping you engage customers at the right moment while saving time and improving overall campaign performance.


Here are the steps to send automated SMS using workflow:

Step 2: You can either use the pre-made template or click on the Create from scratch button.



Step 3: Choose the triggers and filters as per your needs, drag and drop the SMS action to the workflow editor and connect the node.

Step 4: Click on the SMS action. A left sidebar will appear—select the SMS template and click Done.



Now, whenever customers enter the segment, SMS messages will be sent to them automatically.

Important Notes

  • Ensure that the SMS template is created in advance before using it in a workflow.
  • Select the appropriate trigger to ensure SMS messages are sent at the right time based on customer actions.
  • Always connect the SMS action node correctly within the workflow to avoid execution issues.
  • Double-check that the correct SMS template is selected before activating the workflow.
  • Verify that customers have provided valid phone numbers and consent to receive SMS messages.
  • Avoid sending too many SMS messages in a short period to prevent customer fatigue or opt-outs.
  • Configure contact throttling to control how frequently customers can enter the workflow.
  • Ensure compliance with SMS marketing regulations and include opt-out instructions where required.
  • Make sure the workflow is active, SMS messages will not be sent.
