Setup Email Automation Based on Segmented Audience

Introduction

In this comprehensive article, we'll delve into the intricacies of setting up email automation based on segmented audiences, empowering you to deliver targeted and timely messages that resonate with your subscribers on a deeper level. Whether you're a seasoned marketer or new to the world of email automation, this article will provide you with the knowledge and tools needed to harness the full potential of segmented audience targeting.

Here are the steps to set up Email Automation Based on Segmented Audience:

Step 1: Go to Customers >> Segment.

Step 2: Click on the Create button at the top right corner to create a new segment.

Step 3: Click on the Add filter button and add the filter according to your needs.

Step 6: Click on the Apply Filter button. For example: I am using a filter email is not empty.

Step 7: Click on the Save segment button.

Step 8: Enter the name of the segment and click on the Save Segment button.

Step 9: Go to Workflow automation >> Templates >> either click on the Create from scratch button or click on the Use now button.

Step 9: Drag and drop a segment changed trigger from the left side. You can also use another segment and use the Customer segment on filters.

Notes

Note: In the Segment Changed workflow, you can create more than 5 segment-based workflows, but only 5 can be active simultaneously.

Step 10: Choose an action, select the segment, and click on Done.

Idea

Note: A segment used in one workflow can not be reused in another workflow. If you still want to use the same segment, create a new segment with the same definition but with a different name, and use that segment.

Step 11: Drag an action from the left side and connect it with the trigger. Click on the Action, connect the node, and choose a message that you want to send in the workflow.

Step 12: Give a name to the segment, select the contact throttle, and mark the workflow as active.

Now, whenever customers enter the segment, an email automation message will be sent to customers automatically.

Important Notes

  • Use relevant filters while creating segments to avoid sending emails to unintended customers.
  • Always save the segment properly before using it in a workflow.
  • Use the correct trigger or filter (e.g., Segment Changed or Customer segment) to ensure the workflow starts when customers enter the segment.
  • Note that a segment used in one workflow cannot be reused in another workflow. To reuse it, create a new segment with the same conditions.
  • Double-check that the selected segment is correctly connected in the workflow editor.
  • Configure contact throttling to control how often customers receive emails.
  • Verify email content, personalization, and links before activating the workflow.
  • Make sure the workflow is saved and turned on, otherwise emails will not be sent.
