WhatsApp has become one of the most effective channels for engaging with customers in real time. By enabling the WhatsApp Business API, you can automate messages, send campaign broadcasts, and build personalized communication workflows to improve customer engagement and retention.
With WhatsApp integrated into your marketing tools, you can send order updates, promotional campaigns, abandoned cart reminders, and other automated messages directly to customers who have opted in.
This article explains how to request access to the WhatsApp Business API so you can start using WhatsApp for automated workflows and marketing campaigns within your platform.
Why is connecting to the WhatsApp business API important?
The WhatsApp Business API connection allows you to link your business WhatsApp account with AiTrillion so you can send automated messages, create marketing campaigns, and manage customer conversations directly from the platform.
Once connected, you can use WhatsApp for workflow automation, promotional campaigns, order notifications, and customer engagement at scale.

Here are the steps to request the WhatsApp business API for Workflow and WhatsApp Campaigns:
Step 2: Click on the Request now button to request the business API.
Step 3: A pop-up dialogue will appear. Now, follow the steps below to successfully get approval of WhatsApp Business API
a. Log in to your Facebook/Meta account to authorize the connection by clicking on the Continue button.
b. Select the business asset that you would like to use for WhatsApp.

- Ensure that you are using a fresh account where a WhatsApp Business account has not already been created.
- If you are using an old WhatsApp number, you need to delete it first and then create a new WhatsApp Business account.
- If a WhatsApp Business account is already created, you need to link it to your WhatsApp Business portfolio with AiTrillion.
- If you are using another WhatsApp sender, you need to unlink the WhatsApp Business account from that sender ID and then link it with AiTrillion.
c. Provide your business details such as:
Business name - Enter the name of the business.
Business category - Category of the business. For example, Professional service.
Website URL - Your Website/Store URL.
Country and time zone - Country and time zone of the business.
d. Create or Select a WhatsApp Business Account: You can either: Create a new WhatsApp Business account (Recommended) or Connect an existing one. Here are the settings which are available:
- Select the WhatsApp business account phone number or add a new WhatsApp number.
- Enter the name of the business
- Choose how you would like to verify the phone number: Text message or Phone number.
e. Enter the verification code that is sent to the provided number.
f. Click on the Next button to Approve the consent to send a WhatsApp message through AiTrillion.
g. Congratulations! Now, your WhatsApp business account has been successfully created, and AiTrillion will start the verification process.
h. It will take a few moments to complete the process of linking your Meta WhatsApp Business account to AiTrillion.
After the process is completed, the pop-up will disappear, and AiTrillion will verify the business account. The status will appear as In Progress, and it will take 1-2 business days with Meta for approval.

Once the verification is completed, the WhatsApp Business API request section will disappear.
Note: If you use a WhatsApp template with the Marketing category, the soft messaging limit for new accounts is 250 messages per week, which will gradually increase with each campaign.
Important Notes:
- WhatsApp Business Verification is Required: Before using WhatsApp for campaigns or workflows, ensure that your business is verified in Meta Business Manager. Without verification, WhatsApp API features may be limited.
- Use an Active Phone Number: The phone number used for the WhatsApp Business API must not already be connected to a personal WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business app.
- Template Approval is Mandatory: All WhatsApp message templates must be approved by Meta before they can be used in campaigns or automated workflows.
- Customer Consent is Required: Make sure customers have explicitly opted in to receive WhatsApp messages. Sending messages without consent may violate WhatsApp policies.
- Use Correct Template Variables: When creating templates, ensure that dynamic variables (such as customer name or discount code) are correctly mapped to avoid sending incorrect or empty values.
- Messaging Limits May Apply: WhatsApp may apply daily messaging limits depending on the quality rating of your business number and account status.
- WhatsApp business approval: It will take 1-2 business days for approval of the WhatsApp business account with Meta approval.
