Introduction
A product with two hundred reviews is a product almost nobody reads the reviews of. Shoppers skim the star rating, glance at the first two comments, and decide. All the detail your customers took the trouble to write — what held up after three months, what runs small, what arrived faster than expected — never reaches the next buyer.
AI Review Summary closes that gap. It reads every review you have collected for a product and writes a short, plain-language summary of what customers agree on: the praise, the recurring complaints, and the overall sentiment. The summary sits at the top of your review section so a visitor gets the gist in a few seconds, and it refreshes on a schedule so it keeps pace with new reviews.
This article walks through enabling the feature, choosing which products and reviews it covers, setting the summary style and language, and generating summaries for the reviews you have already collected.
What AI Review Summary does
· AI-powered summary: condenses all of a product's customer reviews into a few readable sentences, written from the reviews themselves rather than from the product description.
· Highlights the pros: surfaces what customers consistently praise, so your strongest selling points come from buyers rather than from marketing copy.
· Identifies the cons: reports the concerns that come up repeatedly, which both sets honest expectations and tells you what to fix.
· Captures sentiment: gives a quick read on the overall tone of the feedback.
· Reveals review patterns: pulls the most-discussed themes out as chips (for example Quality, Fit, Value) under the summary text.
How it would look in your store
On the product page the summary appears as a tinted block
directly above your review list. It carries an “AI summary” badge and the
heading “What customers say most”, followed by the summary text, the
most-mentioned themes, and a Read more link that expands the full summary.

· The Product reviews module must be enabled for your store.
· Generating and re-generating summaries consumes AI credits. Check the balance shown at the top of the AI review summary tab — if it reads $0.00, use Add Credits before you save.
· A product only receives a summary once it has at least as many reviews as the Minimum reviews required value (10 by default), so very new products will not show one straight away.
· If you already have reviews in your account, plan to run Sync existing reviews once so those reviews are included.
Enable and configure AI Review Summary
Step 1: In the left menu of the AiTrillion
dashboard, click Product reviews to expand the module, then expand Display on
store and click Review display.
Product reviews → Display on store → Review display
The AI review summary tab on Review display settings
1. Enable AI Review Summary: switches generation on. With this on, AiTrillion reads your reviews and writes a summary for every eligible product.
2. Show summary on product page: controls display. It publishes summaries that have already been generated. This stays in effect even if generation is later turned off, so you can stop spending credits without losing the summaries you already paid for.
Above the card you will also see your AI credit balance with
an Add Credits button. Keep an eye on it — generation stops when the balance
runs out.
Enable generation, publish the summary
on the product page, and check your credit balance
Note: Saving changes on this tab uses AI credits. Changing the summary type, language, minimum reviews or included reviews re-generates every existing summary, not just the new ones. Review your changes before you save.
1. Include reviews: which reviews feed the summary. All reviews is the default and gives the AI the most to work with.
2. Minimum reviews required: a product is only summarised once it has this many reviews. The default of 10 is a sensible floor: a summary built from two or three reviews reads like an opinion rather than a consensus. Raise it if you want summaries only on your well-reviewed products.
3. Maximum products to summarize: caps how many products are summarised, starting with your most-reviewed ones. The default is 50. Set it to 0 for no limit, which summarises every eligible product — useful for a small catalogue, expensive for a large one.
4.
Update
summary: how often summaries refresh, for example Once a week. The first
refresh runs on the next cycle rather than immediately, so do not expect an
instant change after saving.
Review & sync settings decide which products get a summary and how often it is refreshed
1. Summary type: the style of the generated text, for example Overall summary.
2. Summary language: Store language (auto) follows your storefront language automatically. Choose a specific language instead if you want every summary written in one language regardless of the storefront.
3.
Sync
existing reviews: sends the reviews already sitting in your account to the
AI so they are summarised too. Without this, summaries are built only from
reviews collected after you switched the feature on. The status beside the
button reads Not synced yet until it has run, and the button stays greyed out
until Enable AI Review Summary is on.
Summary type and language, and the
one-time sync for reviews you already collected
Note: Changing Summary type or Summary language re-generates summaries for all eligible products and uses AI credits. Settle on a style and language early rather than experimenting on a large catalogue.

If the summary is not showing
Work down this list — it is almost always one of these:
1. Show summary on product page is off. Generation and display are separate switches.
2. The product has fewer reviews than Minimum reviews required.
3. The product falls outside Maximum products to summarize. Only the most-reviewed products up to that number are covered; raise the number or set it to 0.
4. The credit balance is $0.00, so nothing could be generated. Add credits and save again.
5. Your existing reviews were never synced — the status still reads Not synced yet.
6. The first refresh cycle has not run yet. Summaries appear on the schedule set in Update summary, not the instant you save.
Important notes
· Generation and display are independent. Turning off Enable AI Review Summary stops new summaries but leaves existing ones visible while Show summary on product page is on.
· Every re-generation costs credits. The settings that trigger a full re-generation are summary type, summary language, minimum reviews and included reviews.
· Sync existing reviews is only needed once, for reviews collected before the feature was switched on. Reviews collected afterwards are picked up automatically.
· The summary is written from your own customers' reviews, so it changes as sentiment changes — a run of negative reviews will be reflected in the text.
· The Live preview panel on the right of the settings page always shows sample content, so use it to judge layout rather than to check a specific product's summary.
Why it matters
· Saves time: you no longer read hundreds of reviews to learn what customers think.
· Understand customers better: the recurring themes tell you what actually drives satisfaction for each product.
· Helps shoppers decide faster: a visitor gets the consensus in seconds instead of scrolling.
· Makes reviews more valuable: review volume becomes an asset on the page rather than a wall of text.
