Send WhatsApp Messages Only to Customers Who Have Opted In
Introduction
Sending messages only to customers who have explicitly opted in is essential for maintaining trust and complying with messaging regulations. The Send WhatsApp Messages Only to Customers Who Have Opted In setting ensures that WhatsApp messages are delivered only to customers who have provided their consent to receive communications.
By enabling this setting, you can prevent messages from being sent to customers who have not subscribed, helping you maintain compliance with WhatsApp policies. This also improves message engagement by ensuring that your communications reach customers who are genuinely interested in receiving updates, promotions, and notifications through WhatsApp.
Note:
- This setting applies only to Marketing templates. If you use Utility templates, the message will be sent even if the customer is marked as unsubscribed.
- If the setting is disabled and a customer unsubscribes by replying STOP, they will not receive any marketing messages.
- If the setting is disabled, WhatsApp messages using the Marketing template will be sent to all available phone numbers, provided the customers have not unsubscribed.
Here are the steps to enable the setting to send WhatsApp messages only to customers who have opted in:
Step 2: Enable the settings of Enable strict opt-in only sending mode.
Now, the WhatsApp messages will be sent to only those customers who have opted in
Important Notes:
This setting applies only to WhatsApp Marketing templates. Messages sent using Utility templates may still be delivered even if the customer has not opted in.
-
Ensure that customers have provided explicit consent (opt-in) before sending marketing messages to comply with WhatsApp policies and regional messaging regulations.
-
When this setting is enabled, marketing messages will only be sent to customers who are marked as subscribed in the system.
-
If a customer unsubscribes by replying STOP, they will no longer receive marketing messages, even if they were previously subscribed.
-
It is recommended to collect customer consent through forms, pop-ups, checkout opt-ins, or WhatsApp widgets to grow your compliant WhatsApp contact list.
-
Enabling this setting helps improve message deliverability and engagement by ensuring that messages are sent only to customers who are interested in receiving them.
-
Always ensure that your opt-in message clearly informs customers that they are subscribing to receive updates, promotions, or notifications via WhatsApp.
If the setting is disabled, WhatsApp messages sent using the Marketing template will be delivered to all available phone numbers, as long as the customers have not unsubscribed.
