Membership Events & Short Codes in Workflows

Introduction

Workflows can now trigger on membership events and include dynamic membership details in your messages. Instead of sending generic membership messages at fixed times, you can respond to real membership moments — when someone joins, renews, fails a renewal, cancels, or expires — across Email, SMS, and WhatsApp.

Membership event triggers: Membership created, Membership renewal, Membership renewal failed, Cancellation requested, Membership cancelled, and Membership expired.

Membership short codes: Membership plan name, Plan price, Plan creation date, Plan renewal frequency, Next billing date, Membership end date, Membership status, Upcoming perk order date, and Billing details (name, address, card).

Build a Membership Event Workflow

Step 1: Go to [Workflow automation >> Workflows] and click + Create from scratch (or start from a default template).

Step 2: From the ⚡ Triggers palette, drag Membership activity onto the canvas. This trigger fires on a membership lifecycle event, and membership short codes (plan, price, next billing date, billing details) become available in this workflow’s messages.

Step 3: In the Trigger configuration panel, choose the Event type — Membership created, Membership renewal, Membership renewal failed, Cancellation requested, Membership cancelled, or Membership expired — and optionally limit it to specific Plans. Click Done.

Step 4: From the Actions palette, add your messaging step — Send email, Send SMS, or Send WhatsApp — and connect it below the trigger.

Step 5: In your message or template, use the membership short codes to personalize the content with the plan name, price, next billing date, renewal frequency, and more.

Step 6: Click Save and toggle the workflow to Active.

💡 Idea: Trigger an SMS when a renewal fails, send a WhatsApp message on cancellation, and email members when their membership expires — your entire membership lifecycle can run automatically.
