Introduction
A star rating tells you how much a customer liked a product. It never tells you why. Two shoppers can both leave four stars — one because the fabric is excellent, but the sizing is off, the other because the fit is perfect but the colour is dull — and the rating flattens both into the same number.
Two options in the review form fix that. Ask for a recommendation adds a direct “Would you recommend this product?” question, giving you a recommendation rate alongside the star average. Rate this product by feature lets customers score the individual attributes that matter for your catalogue — quality, comfort, fit, value for money, ease of use — so you can see exactly which part of the product is carrying the rating and which part is dragging it down.
Both questions sit inside the refreshed review form, which is cleaner and quicker to complete, and both appear on the product page where shoppers can use them.
What you get
· A recommendation rate: a plain Yes / No signal that is easier for shoppers to read at a glance than an average out of five.
· Per-feature averages: each feature you define gets its own star average, shown in a Ratings by feature panel on the product page.
· Feature names you control: you decide what customers rate, so the questions fit what you actually sell.
· A modern review experience: a simpler three-step form (Rating, Details, Media) that more customers finish.
How it would look in your store
On the product page the Ratings by feature panel sits beside the overall rating and the rating distribution, showing the average score for every feature you defined.

· The Product reviews module must be enabled and the review widget installed on your product page.
· Decide your feature list before you start. You can add up to five features, and they apply across your catalogue, so pick attributes that make sense for most of your products.
· Both options are off by default and can be turned on independently — you do not have to use both.
Turn on the new review form options
Step 1: In the left menu of the AiTrillion dashboard, click Product reviews to expand the module, then expand Display on store and click Review display.

· You can add up to five features.
· Use the pencil icon to rename a feature and the bin icon to remove it.
·
Keep names short — they are displayed as row
labels in the review form and again on the product page.

Feature names apply across your catalogue, so the useful ones are the attributes a customer would weigh up for almost anything you sell. A few starting points:
|
If you sell |
Features worth using |
|
Apparel and footwear |
Fit, Comfort, Quality, Value for money |
|
Home and furniture |
Quality, Ease of assembly, Value for money, Appearance |
|
Electronics and gadgets |

|
Beauty and personal care |
Effectiveness, Scent, Texture, Value for money |

Food and supplements |

· Three to five features is the sweet spot. One or two is not worth the extra step; more than five makes the form feel like a survey.
· Avoid features that only apply to part of your catalogue — a customer asked to rate “Battery life” on a t-shirt will simply skip it.
· Try to settle on your list early. Feature averages are only comparable between products that were rated on the same features.
What your customers see
1. The shopper clicks Write a review on the product page and the three-step form opens on step 1, Rating.
2. They choose a star rating as usual.
3. They answer “Would you recommend this product?” with Yes or No.
4. They give an optional star rating for each feature you defined, under “Rate the product on the following parameters”.
5. They click Next and continue to step 2 (Details) and step 3 (Media) to finish the review.
Note: Feature ratings are marked optional in the form, so switching them on will not stop anyone from leaving a review. Customers who skip them still submit successfully.

If the new questions are not showing
6. The changes were not saved. Both toggles need Update settings before they reach the storefront.
7. Rate this product by feature is on but the feature list is empty, so there is nothing to display. Add at least one feature.
8. You are looking at a cached product page. Reload the storefront page after saving.
9. The Ratings by feature panel only appears once customers have actually submitted feature ratings — it will be empty immediately after switching the option on.
Important notes
· The two options are independent. You can ask for a recommendation without using feature ratings, and the other way round.
· Feature ratings are optional for the customer and never block a review from being submitted.
· You can rename or delete a feature at any time from the same list; ratings already collected stay attached to the feature they were given for.
· The maximum is five features.
· The Live preview panel updates as you type, so use it to check wording before you save.
Why it matters
· A clearer satisfaction signal: a recommendation rate answers the question shoppers actually have — would someone like me buy this again?
· Know exactly what customers like: feature averages separate a product's strengths from its weak spots instead of averaging them together.
· More confidence for shoppers: detailed scores are harder to dismiss than a single star average.
· Better product decisions: a consistently low feature score points straight at what to fix, source differently, or describe more accurately.
