Block certain products from allowing customers to add reviews

Introduction

In some cases, you may not want reviews to appear on every product in your store. Blocking certain products from the review system allows you to control where reviews are displayed and collected.

This can be useful for products that are not yet ready for feedback, limited-time items, or specific categories where reviews are not required. By managing this setting, you can ensure a more relevant and streamlined review experience for your customers.


Here are the steps to block certain products from allowing customers to add reviews:

Step 1: Head over to Product Reviews >> Settings >> Block Products



Step 2: Enable the feature, make your settings for product tags/handles, and click save when done.
  • Enable block product
    Toggle this option to activate or deactivate the product blocking feature.
    When enabled, selected products or tagged products will be excluded from the review system.

Block by Tags
  • Add tags
    Enter product tags to block all products associated with those tags.
    • Type a tag name and press Enter
    • Click + Add to include it in the blocked list

    Note: You can add multiple tags at once. This is useful when you want to block an entire category of products at once.


Block Individual Products:
  • Add products
    Search and select specific products to block them from:
    • Receiving review requests (emails or popups)
    • Displaying review forms on the product page 


Now, leave a review option will not appear to the product.



Important Notes:

  • Make sure the Enable block product option is turned on for the settings to take effect.
  • Blocking a product will not remove existing reviews, it will only prevent new reviews from being collected.
  • Blocked products will be excluded from:
    • Review request emails
    • Review pop-ups
    • Product page review forms
  • When using tags, ensure they are entered correctly, as the block will apply to all products with those tags.
  • Tag-based blocking will also apply to future products with the same tag.
  • You can add multiple tags to block entire categories at once.
  • For more control, use individual product selection instead of tags.
  • Always click Save settings after making changes.
  • You can update or remove blocked products/tags at any time.
  • Review your blocked list periodically to ensure it aligns with your current strategy.
