Create Customer Groups with Shopify Tags | Segment Smarter with AiTrillion

Create a Customer Segment Based on Shopify Customer tags

Introduction:

Shopify customer tags allow you to classify customers based on their behavior, purchase history, loyalty status, or any custom labels added in your store. These tags make it easier to organize your audience and identify specific customer groups.

By creating a customer segment based on Shopify customer tags in AiTrillion, you can quickly filter and target customers who share common attributes—such as VIP members, repeat buyers, wholesale customers, or promotional subscribers. This enables you to deliver highly personalized email campaigns, SMS marketing, and automation workflows.

In this article, we will walk you through the step-by-step process of creating a customer segment using Shopify customer tags to improve targeting, engagement, and overall marketing performance.

Here are the steps to create a segment based on Shopify customer's tags:

Step 2: Click on Create segment >> Add filter >> Search for customer tag

Step 3: Add the filter according to your needs and click on Done.

Step 4: Click on Apply filter.

Now, you will get the list of the customer's whose tags are available.

Step 5: Click on the Save segment button.

Step 6: Give a name to the segment and description (Optional), and click on Create segment button.

Now, the segment has been created, which can be used in a campaign or workflow.

Important Notes:

  • Customer segments are dynamic, meaning customers will automatically enter or exit the segment based on the selected filter conditions.

  • Always click Apply filter to preview the filtered results before saving the segment.

  • Use clear and descriptive segment names to easily identify them when selecting the audience for email campaigns.

  • Review the total customer count after applying filters to ensure the audience size matches your campaign goal.

  • Avoid using overly broad filters, as this may include irrelevant customers in your campaign.

  • After saving the segment, you can use it directly in Email Campaigns, SMS Campaigns, and Automation Workflows.

  • If the segment does not appear in the campaign audience list, ensure it has been properly saved.

  • Regularly review and update segments to maintain accurate and effective targeting.

  • Deleting or modifying filters in a saved segment may impact ongoing campaigns or workflows using that segment.
